Apple’s new iOS 17 update brings us tons of exciting new features and capabilities. However, while its arrival is truly something to celebrate, it is important to note that the update has limited compatibility.
According to the company, iOS 17 would need an A12 Bionic chip or later, which means some iPhone models like iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X are incompatible. So, what models exactly can get the iOS 17 update? Here’s the list:

- iPhone XR
- iPhone 11
- iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max
- iPhone 12 and 12 mini
- iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max
- iPhone 13 and 13 mini
- iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max
- iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max
- iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd gen)
Apple Developer Program members with devices eligible for the update can now get the developer beta of iOS 17, while others can expect the public beta availability next month. Meanwhile, the official release of the update is expected this fall.
